Visit website

Project Summary

The overarching aim of RE-WITCH, a project funded by the European Horizon programme, is to deliver cost-competitive, game-changing solutions in the field of sustainable industrial cooling and heating. To do so, RE-WITCH will demonstrate advanced thermally-driven industrial cooling technologies based on ADsorption and ABsorption processes driven by an optimized mix of low-grade waste and renewable sources (innovative high vacuum flat plate solar collectors).

Such solutions will be demonstrated in 4 demo sites (3 confirmed as of January 2024, in Greece, Spain and Poland) encompassing food and beverage sectors as well as industrial sectors where heat-to-cold solutions are not yet widely explored (bio-refinery). The activity will be completed by studying the replicability of proposed technologies in replication sites even integrated with District Heating Networks (DHN).

The project will be delivered by an industrial-driven consortium of 26 partners from 10 countries and it is composed by some of the most innovative SMEs, LEs and R&D centers in the field of industrial renewable H&C leveraging experience from industrial and EU-funded projects (HYCOOL, SO-WHAT, Indus3Es). The multi-disciplinary composition of the consortium ensures that all the challenges (technical and non-) will be addressed to ultimately bring RE-WITCH solutions to the market by 2029. Innovative open access modelling platforms and engineering solutions will also be developed to facilitate the design, upscale, replication and integration in industrial processes of the proposed technologies.

Thanks to a stakeholders’ driven dissemination and communication campaign, RE-WITCH will ultimately demonstrate transformative technological solutions that unlock the combined potential of low-grade waste and renewable heat use in industries, hence also targeting integration of heat-to-cold technologies into relevant EU policies.

PRAGMA supports the execution of the Greek pilot (MILOIL) by working on BIM design, Digital Twin development and Monitoring Platform deployment and operation.

The RE-WITCH project has received funding from the European Union Horizon Europe programme, under Grant agreement n°101138697.

Project Summary

TALES is a growing SME in the brewery’s domain. TALES plans to improve its production quality and expand its capacity to accommodate larger orders addressing the continuously growing interest of the market. Currently, the quality of the product/ beer is measured and assured completely empirically and manually. It is measured manually by tasting the beer and evaluate its taste, acidity, etc. in an empirically manner. Furthermore, the quality of the product is assured by ordering the “same” quality of malt and maintaining (manually) the “same” conditions during the various phases (e.g. mashing, boiling, cooling, fermentation, etc.) within the brewery’s production line. Therefore, TALES seeks the quality improvement and assurance at its production line that will increase the production flexibility, adaptability and automation enabling TALES to meet its scale-up objectives. TITAN will realize an IoT system for monitoring and control the quality of the products within brewery’s production line.

Challenges:

  • Product quality monitoring and control within all intermediate steps of the production line;
  • Product quality assessment and correlation with malt quality and environmental condition within various
    phases of the production line;
  • Production of different, new flavours with improved quality on a safe manner;
  • Real-time continuous monitoring and control of the production line;

PRAGMA, will be responsible for developing the prediction and simulation algorithms, as well as the TITAN’s HMIs and visual analytics.

Crowdsourcing Drone Videos for News Coverage

UFO (Innovation boosted by Small Flying Objects)

Date: October 2021

Project Summary

Reaching inaccessible locations for news coverage, especially in cases of natural disasters and accidents, in a timely and cost-efficient manner is crucial for good reporting for news agencies. Currently, one of the most common ways to collect video evidence for such events is through the usage of helicopters. However, this comes at a great cost, which is many times unbearable, especially for smaller news agencies. DRONEWS aims to address this market gap by developing an end-to-end crowdsourcing platform enabling News Agencies to source in a cost-effective manner, near-real-time, user generated drone video streams to enrich news coverage and journalistic content towards increasing their monetization potential. The aim of the DRONEWS project is to provide news agencies and digital media companies with the ability to source near real-time user generated drone videos of remote locations and/or urgent events such as accidents, disasters etc. The key innovation of DRONEWS is that it enables the crowdsourcing of drone-captured videos in real-time, the verification of the uploaded videos, video intelligence for key frame extraction and annotation of captured scenes, and the automatic removal of sensitive information from these videos.

Pragma-IOT will deal with video key frame extraction annotation and privacy enhancing tools and the toolkit for video annotation (based on key frame extraction methods from video) and will deliver privacy enhancing tools for the video management.
